Art Curriculum
The Art Program at Gulledge Elementary is founded in the Discipline Based Arts Education (DBAE) philosophy. Students at Gulledge Elementary not only create meaningful works of art, but are involved in discussions of art history as well as art criticism. Each student is encouraged to develop his/her ability to sculpt, paint and draw along with appreciating art for its historical and aesthetic values. Plano Independent School District supports the belief that art is an essential part of children receiving a well rounded education and developing into a contributing member of society.

Heather Colomina
It is a pleasure to be a part of the Gulledge Gator community. I have served in Plano ISD for over 20 years, teaching multiple grade levels throughout my career. I am currently proud to serve as the Art teacher, where I enjoy nurturing creativity and helping develop our future artists.
I am continually inspired by my students’ imagination and their unique ability to express themselves through art. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and playing tennis.
Marina Rivera
Hello, I am Ms. Rivera and I have been teaching at Gulledge Elementary as the half time art teacher since 2024, I am currently split between Gulledge and Mitchell Elementary. As a proud alumni of Plano ISD, my passion for the visual arts began here and I am grateful to be able to return and serve my community. Fostering and nurturing creativity within my students through the art making process is what cultivates my love for teaching.
Outside of work I enjoy creating art, staying active, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with loved ones.
